Jean Nouvel (born 12 August 1945) is a French architect.

Born in Fumel, Lot-et-Garonne, he was educated at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He was a founding member of Mars 1976 and Syndicat de l\'Architecture. In 2005, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art hosted a major retrospective of his works.

Proposed

  • In February 2008, Mr. Nouvel agreed to design a rakish 45-story luxury condo tower in upscale Century City section of Los Angeles, California. The tower will be a very bold, modern design -- it will look like a transparent garden from most angles.
  • In November 2007, Mr. Nouvel was tapped to build a new 75-story tower next to the Museum of Modern Art in Midtown Manhattan. The tower will house a hotel, luxury apartments and three floors (2nd, 4th, and 5th) will be used by MoMA to expand its exhibition space.
  • In April 2007, Jean Nouvel associated with Marshall Day Acoustics Ltd win architecture competition to build a new Orchestra Hall (Philharmonie de Paris) in Paris, close to Cité de la Musique (opening in 2012)
  • The Centre for Sustainable Development in Le Havre, France. Project including the construction of a 120 m high tower on a former seaport area.
