Each able-bodied individual or even any society has its own opinion, which is a culmination of traditional beliefs and values coming through ages. But what can be the ideal definition of 'opinion'? If we take into account the public opinion, the most prominent and potential force in the present days can be delineated as a psychological group but without any face-to-face contact. According to the widespread convention, 'Opinion' is generally a judgment or belief that is held in confidence but not authenticated by means of affirmative knowledge or evidence. It can thus be best ascertained as an upshot of social interaction that with good grace involve an effective discussion of a problem while affecting the interests and values of the people or the society at large.
In the contemporary world when there have been no 'End of History' as prophesied in the early nineties with the disintegration of the mighty Soviet Empire and its East European Satellites, a spanking tension is brewing up resulting into the formation of 'Opinions' in the international podium in a new craze. Be it the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq affecting the oil resources of the world in the early nineties or the 9/11 episode of the US, or the onslaught of the same United States of America on the war ravaged Afghanistan and Iraq in the name of expunging terrorism, to them these two were the hot beds or the progenitor of the international terrorism, the international public opinion was clearly divided between two halves, an unknown saga even never perceived during the two World Wars or in the War on Vietnam.
During these international crisis the iconoclastic and ardent role of the international media was greatly perceived in forming opinions, both public and private. At several instances the Joe public or simply passers byes were stopped and were asked all sorts of questions tending to the formation of opinion to a new height.
However this role of the media in the formation of public opinion have been highly discarded. In the words of Mark Twain, "It is far better that you fear the media, for they will steal your honor. That awful power, the public opinion of a nation, is created in America by a horde of ignorant, self-complacent simpletons who failed at ditching and shoemaking and fetched up in journalism on their way to the poorhouse."
