Salman deposes before court in bollywood-underworld nexus case
Mumbai, Mar 11 UNI Bollywood actor Salman Khan today deposed before the special MCOCA court here as a witness against gangster Chhota Shakeel's henchman Anjum Fazlani and daimond king Bharat Shah's secretry Tarun Shah. In his nearly half-an-hour deposition before Special MCOCA Judge M R Puranik, Salman stuck to his statment which was earlier recorded by police during the investigations.
 
5 Children injured in explosion
Kanpur, Mar 10 UNI Five children, including a girl, were injured when a bomb was exploded, hidden in garbage under Naubasta polie circle in this industrial city of Uttar Pradesh today. Police said five rag pickkers were injured in Machheria loality when a country made bomb exploded in the garbage. The injured children are Nafis12, Hafiz 6, Athar Rahman 12, an unidentified boy aged five and Shanu 8.
 
Govt preparing National Register of Martyrs
New Delhi, Mar 11 UNI The Government is preparing a national register of all those who laid down their lives for the freedom of the country. Titled 'Dictionary of Martyrs: India's Freedom Struggle 1857- 1947', the national register of martyrs is being compiled by the Indian Council of Historical Research, the Government told the Rajya Sabha today.
 
Mughal gardens to be open for "special groups"
New Delhi, Mar 11 UNI The Mughal Gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan will be open for viewing for certain special groups like differently abled persons and visually challenged persons from March 12 to 14. Entry for differently abled persons using wheelchairs will be through the Reception of Rashtrapati Bhavan between 1000-1300 hours. Such persons can arrive at Rashtrapati Bhavan through Hukmi Mai Marg or Rajpath along with their escorts.

NE states get Rs 400 crore under NLCPR
Agartala, Mar 10 UNI The Northeastern states, including Sikkim, have received about Rs 400 crore under the Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources NLCPR in current fiscal so far, officials said here today. According to a report, highest allocation was given to Arunachal Pradesh to the tune of Rs 79.40 crore followed by Rs 79 crore to Assam, Rs 70.94 crore to Tripura, 50.98 crore to Meghalaya, Rs 47.17 crore to Nagaland, Rs 40.02 crore to Manipur, Rs 16.
 
GEI bags three orders worth Rs 54.46 cr
New Delhi, Mar 10 UNI GEI Industrial Systems, the company engaged in heat transfer technology, today said it has bagged three orders worth Rs 54.46 crore in oil and gas sector. The order is for supply of heat exchangers for upstream and downstream projects for Indian Oil Corporation IOC, Mangalore Refinery Petrochemicals MRPL and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation ONGC, the company said in a statement.

Islamabad, Mar 10 UNI Pakistan's Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, has given a one-year extension in service to ISI Chief Lt General Ahmed Shuja Pasha to allow him to complete his tenure as three-star General and, more importantly, as head of the country’s premier spy agency. Summary or recommendation for Lt Gen Pasha’s extension, initiated by the Defence Ministry, had been approved by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
